FYI - We have a TEAM of Disc Golfers working on the 2010 North Iowa Tour!

Here is the Schedule!
3/27/10 - Thornton Open (Thornton, IA)
4/17/10 - Hampton Showdown (Hampton, IA)
5/8/10 - Battle at the Bridge (Forest City, IA)
6/5/10 - River City Disco (Mason City, IA)
7/24/10 - Northwood Open (Northwood, IA)
8/7/10 - Coulter Challenge (Coulter, IA)
9/18/10 - Battle of Belmond (Belmond, IA)
10/30/10 - Tour Finals (Mason City, IA)

You will be able to join the Tour for a ONE-TIME Fee of $15 for Males and $10 for Females. You Register for the Tour, and pay this Fee at the first N.I.T. Tournament that you participate at. You do not have to join the Tour to play at any of these Tounaments. The Tour Finals in October though will be for ONLY Tour Members who Qualify. Tour Members must play at a MINIMUM of 3 of the 7 Tournaments to Qualify. Those Tour Members who Qualify for the Tour FINALS will receive a FREE entry into the Tour Finals! Tour Members will receive points at each Tournament that they play. The Tour Standings will be the total points for your 3 BEST Tournaments! Prizes for the Tour Standings will be given out during the Tour Finals. Each Tournament will have a CTP for ONLY Tour Members! We are also looking at maybe getting Bag Tags and having a Challenge for them all summer long as well! Only Tour Members will be able to buy a Tag for an additional $5 if they would like. But the Bag Tag Challenge is not for sure yet. If we do the Bag Tag Challenge, there will be prizes for the LOW Bag Tags that are present at the Finals.

I will let you know more info as we get it figured out!

See you in 2010!

Got 'em all in our calendar for you, Mark. Obviously, once more details become available, let us know! All I basically have in the calendar right now is dates, event name/location and some generic contact info. Thanks!

I love the set up with having one tournament a month!

Are all these tournaments going to be sanctioned? If not is there a difference in how you will gain points between sanctioned and unsanctioned? Since the unsanctioned will most likely get less people?

How are points earned?

As of right now they are all planned to be non-sanctioned. I think the point system we have set in place will work well with differences in the number of people participating at each event.

At each Tournament, ONLY Tour Members (no matter what Division they played) will be ranked by lowest total score.
Then we will figure the point factor by dividing 100 by the number of Tour Members at the tournament.
Then you get that many points for each person you beat or tie.
So if there are 12 tour members then the point factor will be 8.33 points.
12th place would get 8.33, 11th place 16.67, 10th place 25, and so on to 1st place getting 100 points.
1st Place will also get some bonus points added onto the 100 points they receive.
The Bonus points equals the number of Tour Members at the Tournament divided by 10.
So with 12 members at the tournament the bonus points would be 1.2 points for a total of 101.2 for 1st place.
Then the Tour Standings will be the total points for your 3 best of out 7 Tournaments (not including the Finals).

I notice that Subway is a sponsor. Can u elaborate on what they donated? Is it corporate, regional marketing, or store level? I've been trying to work something out with them also. Any info would be very helpful!

This was just an example of what a sponsor ad would look like. We don't have Subway as a sponsor (yet.) Hopefully we will be able to work something out with a couple of them on the local level.

I was able to get the Subway located in Diamond Jo Casino to donate us 3 dozen cookies this past summer for the Northwood Open. The manager of that location told me that they would think about getting more involved next summer in 2010 for us! When I asked them this year, they had just opened and they would only do cookies for us! But now that they will be a little more settled in, hopefully we can get more out of them! I know the Skunk River Open in Story City, IA was able to get donations of like $500 every year from thier local Subway for thier Tournament. That is why I tried to hit up our Subway in the first place once we got it. I can't wait!

With almost all of these courses being only 9 hole courses, how are you going to run the tournaments? Are you going to be setting up temp holes at all of them? Is there room at all of them for temp holes?

I'm just curious. If you need help with any of it, just let me know.

I liked the 3 rounds of 12 holes that I did at Northwood this year. We are having all of the TD's getting together in January to go over formats, entry fees, and stuff like that. I would like to see us do 36 holes at each tournaments. Whether it is 4 rounds of 9 or 3 rounds of 12, or 2 rounds of 18. I think we can find at least 3 temp holes at each of the courses to have rounds of 12 as a minimum. But I haven't even played a couple of them, so I don't know for sure. I think we will try to add as many holes as possible, so we don't have to play so many rounds on the same holes.

3 Rounds of 12 or even 15 is a very nice format. I wouldn't worry about playing the same holes too many times. There are more benefits then negatives to playing a hole 3 or 4 times IMO. Also, you can set up shorter or longer tees then normal on holes if you have to do 4 rounds of 9.

If you want/need any help in looking at temp holes and what not for any of the courses, just let me know and I'll try to help where i can.
