****************************************************************************************************
PLEASE NOTE ABSENTEE INFO IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT ON SATURDAY NOVEMBER 15TH
****************************************************************************************************
Calling all current MFA members:

Saturday November 14th we have the Fall Meeting, being held at Kelly's
19th Hole bar and restaurant, on the corner of Noble and 85th Ave. N,
Brooklyn Park. The meeting will commence after the membership-drive
tournament at Central Park (across the street from Kelly's),
approximately 4:00PM. Pizza and beer will be served once the meeting is
started.
Come to the membership drive and enjoy playing on the Brookland
Executive 9-hole golf course. We will be registering players from
9:00-10:00, with an anticipated tee off at 10:30 (Bring your basket
since we will need 10 total baskets). I would like to have the course
set up by 9:00 if possible. Registration is $10.00, of which 100% goes
toward the previously mentioned pizza and beer. This is a fun event that
has been held at the same venue for the past 5 years, and receives rave
reviews every year.
Bag tags will be available for sale at the discounted price of $5.00,
and will be effective at the Winter League that starts the Saturday
after Thanksgiving.
Pete has posted the preliminary agenda for the meeting

This year we have the capability to assist members that cannot make the
meeting. To facilitate this I NEED NOMINATIONS sent to me by 5:00PM
Tuesday, November 10th. The nominations need to have already been
approved by the nominee at that time.

YOU NEED TO BE A 2009 CURRENT MEMBER TO NOMINATE AND VOTE FOR THESE
POSITIONS (I am listing the current membership in the 'Files' section,
under the 'Lists' folder):

The President will:
A. Preside at all meetings of the executive board and general meetings.
B. Appoint the committee heads soon after installation.
C. Make interim appointments as needed with the approval of the
executive board.
D. Have the authority to sign checks and contracts.
E. Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees, except for the
nominating committee.
F. Check the P.O. Box regularly, or ensure that it is done.

The Vice President will perform the duties of an absent President and
perform such duties as are assigned to him by the President.

The Secretary will record the minutes of the board and full membership
meetings, and read those minutes at the next meeting. He/she will send a
copy of the minutes to the FLOATER editor.

The Treasurer will:
A. Have charge of all funds of the organization.
B. Make an annual financial report to the membership at the Winter
meeting. The newly elected treasurer will propose the annual budget,
and it must be approved by the board.
C. Have the authority to sign checks.
D. Keep dues collected in advance for the next administration in a
separate fund.
E. File income tax returns.

The Zone Coordinator job description is in the Yahoo groups 'Files'
section, under 'Zone Coordinator JD'.

Each current member should receive a postcard. It has all this
information, including directing you to the website
https://votingplace.net/mfa where if you cannot make the meeting I
encourage you to take advantage of this absentee opportunity. You will
be asked to identify yourself, and then offered your nominees... AS OF
THE CLOSE OF THE ON-LINE NOMINATION CUTOFF, TUESDAY, 11/10/09, AT 5:00
PM. All nominations will be posted here Wednesday morning.

Your vote will only be counted once. If you vote on line and attend the
meeting you will NOT be given a 'second vote' even if there is a better
candidate nominated from the 'floor' while the election is taking place.
This will be strictly enforced. (All the more reason to nominate your
favorites now!).

Sincerely,
The MFA Election Committee (Lyle and Mike)
651-484-5035

p.s. Let me know if you can bring a 'tournament quality' target that
morning.

Mike

This may be a good time to also explain my Mider Membership Mistake.
At the Mider I had 8 south zone players sign up for MFA membership so that they could play for the South zone.
These 8 -Brent, Bob, Timmer, Claire, Zach, Brian, Kit, and Jordan paid me $10.00 to be MFA members to play Mider and got a disc.
My mistake was that I only read part of the MFA membership directions, I read "After September 1st pay $10.00 less"
What I didn't read or maybe didn't want to read was the rest "than twice for both 2009 and 2010"
The 8 South zone Mider cup players who got MFA membership and a disc for $10.00 will not be able to vote in the upcoming MFA elections - they got alot for their $10.00!

So how long is there membership for? Through 2010?

so does that mean that I would owe $10 yet for 2010?

I believe $15 would get you membership through 2010. Basically the $10 got you mider plus the remaining MST whihc was today. (according to Mike Snelson, who I talked to today about this) The $15 is the cost of a yearly renewal. So basically you got a 50% discount on the 2009 membership due to the date you joined. But voting allready took place for 2009 BoD last November.

I sure hope we would allow those individuals an option to pay an additional $10 to be current for the 2010 since it was a misunderstanding of the membership rules.

I told my non-MFA members that if they renewed ($15) or signed up as a new member ($20) at the 2009 MIder Cup... it would cover 2010 also. That's a good deal as one of my MIder Cup players was surprised he didn't need to renew his membership at the MIder Cup. I explained to him that when he renewed at the 2008 MIder Cup that covered his 2009 MFA membership.

Brian, I'm posting for Claire...

She's wondering why she wouldn't get to vote?
Not sure what amount she paid to sign up but she didn't get a disc either.
She or Tony won't be able to get to a pc till tommorrow so i was asked to post this question for her...

Brent,
Claire paid $ 10.00 at the Mider for MFA membership through 2009.
I do have more of the MFA putters availible for her - I'll get the colors I have left 5 Red 167 -175, 3 Orange 167 -171 and 1 Yellow 171.
She wont get to vote for the MFA officers - through my mistake - unless as Todd just posted she wants to pay another $10.00 this week.

MFA MEMBERS:

If you aren't planning to go up to the MFA Annual Fall Meeting on Saturday, here's another reason for each of you to make sure and get your online ballot in! I've asked (along with 2-3 others), and Jake Schramm has accepted the opportunity to be nominated as MFA Vice-President for 2010. He'll have competition for that position...but he does have a lot of friends/support around the MFA...and if we get his back and support him from the South as well, he stands a VERY good chance of winning that election.

Anyway, get those ballots in starting at midnight tonight! Thanks.

Voting system was down for a bit this morning...but Snelson got it all humming again and the voting process on the MFA service couldn't be easier! Took me all of maybe 35-40 seconds to vote. Nice work, Mike!

Just make sure you enter a lower case 's' in the zone. That seems to be the biggest hangup for voters right now.
